Nav is the only moon of Morana, the second planet in the Hypnos system. At 5651 km in diameter, ts the third largest moon known in the Hypnos system - behind Simargl's Rarog and Chernobog's Svetovid.

Nav is 30x less massive than Morana, at 0.116 earth masses. For comparison, Moon is 81x less massive than Earth, but Charon is only about 8x less massive than Pluto. While the game shows their barycentre, they are not a double planet system, because their barycentre is inside Morana's core.

But despite the fact Nav orbits Morana and not around a barycentre, the two are tidally locked to each other. Nav always faces Morana with its night side, and Morana always faces Nav with its dayside. This also means that you can never see Nav from Morana.

Nav's atmosphere is simmilar to Rarog's being near 100% of sulfur dioxide, but much, MUCH less dense. Nav is significantly colder than Morana, at 927 *C comapred to Morana's 1436 *C. This is because of Nav's barely existing atmosphere and a low albedo, compared to Morana's very high albedo and a very dense atmosphere.

Nav orbits Morana at a semi major axis of only 37300 km. This is over 10x closer than Moon from Earth, this is comparable to Pluto with Charon. But Nav and Morana are MUCH larger than Earth and Moon and incomparably larger than Pluto and Charon. They are so close to each other that in an attempt to take a screenshot of Nav's night side the screenshotter... landed on Morana by accident.

Name

Morana is the slavic god of winter, cold, night and death, the planet only fits the death part.

Nav in the slavic mytholoyg is the world of the dead, and also of bad gods. A dead person or his spirit are also called nav.

Physical characteristics

Nav is a torrid selena 5651 km in diameter, making it the third largest moon in the system, and puts it larger than two planets: Koshchei and Viy. Its mass is 0.116 earth masses, which also makes it more massive than the mentioned planets.

The density of Nav is something very interesting - 7.41 g/cm3, and this is crazy because the density of its planet Morana is 4.9 g/cm3, Earth is 5.51, Mercury is 5.43. Nav is 7.41. A body made of standard silicate rock and iron just cant have this density.

To achieve this density, Nav must be composed of almost entirely iron-nickel alloy, maybe also enriched with even heavier things like gold, platinum, tungsten, and uranium. This is a protoplanetary core exposed to space, in fact thats a scientific treasure.

The Flying Triton Theory - the current model for Hypnos system formation suggests Nav formed as a result of a collision between Morana and another planet. The other planet entirely besides for its core became a part of Morana, and its core became Nav.

A still-liquid portion of Nav's massive metallic core could generate a powerful magnetic field, a rare feature for a moon. This magnetic field should interact violently with particles from Hypnos and Morana, potentially creating intense, localized radiation belts.

Nav's ESI is 0.222, significantly higher than Morana, likely entirely because of a lower temperature.

Orbital characteristics

Nav orbits Morana at an elliptic orbit with an eccentricity of 0.033, it takes 11 hours 12 minutes and 27 seconds to complete one rotation - this is the axial period for both Nav and Morana, solar day on Nav, and just 30 seconds less than the solar day on Morana, as mentioned, the two are tidally locked.

Nav's semi major axis is only 37 300 km, more than 10x close than Earth and Moon, while both are significantly larger. Also dont forget that Morana is 20 000 km in diameter, and its atmosphere stretches to 21 000 km. This means that Nav is only 17 300 km away from Morana's surface.

Atmospheric characteristics

Nav's "atmosphere" spans 200 km around its surface, while its exopsheric corona stretches up to 27 000 km. What this means is that Nav's and Morana's atmospheres are connected to each other.

Close distance and orbiting inside of an atmosphere means Nav's orbit is slowly degrading, and it would collide with Morana if it wasnt for Hypnos's pair unstable supernova that is happening quite soon in space terms.

Nav's atmosphere, or Nav's part of the atmosphere is comparable to Rarog's atmosphere. It has a high molar mass and the % of sulfur dioxide is so high its easier to say its 100% sulfur dioxide. However Nav's atmosphere also includes a very tiny amount of chlorine and krypton.
